Elforest technologies develops drivetrains of the future

Elforest Technologies has, in cooperation with Ponsse Oy, equipped a harvester with the Elforest's patented Elturbo technology. The Elturbo can be explained as an "electric flywheel" which assists the diesel engine during sudden and high loads.

An electric motor can, in contrast to diesel engines, change its torque very rapidly. Elforest's Elturbo, which is mounted on the outgoing shaft of the diesel engine, reacts on the smallest deviations in RPM and instantly adds torque to help maintain the RPM until the diesel engine can handle the load by itself. The result is a very even RPM even when loads are high and sudden.

Ponsse's retrofitted harvester has been testet for several months to evaluate the Elturbo technology. The result from the evaluation shows higher productivity while maintaining fuel consumption. The drivers who have had the pleasure to test the machine, have all been very impressed by how much more powerful the machine feels with the Elturbo.
